The Testing Accommodation Centers, are a resource that faculty can use to provide accommodated exams for students with approved accommodations through SSD.
Our focus is creating a safe, supportive environment to provide accommodated exams on behalf of instructors. Between our two centers, we have 79 seats for students along with 7 private rooms.
Our capacity is limited and determined on a first-come, first-serve basis, so instructors may need to facilitate exams on their own.
Whenever possible, we encourage instructors to administer accommodated exams using department resources or other spaces available to them, at a time that is convenient. This allows students greater access to their instructors if they have questions during the exam and it is often closer to the experience of their classmates.
Instructors are the driving force behind making arrangements at the TAC and need to submit their requests to the TAC via Accommodate as early in the semester as possible. If the exam request is accepted, the TAC will communicate with the faculty and make reservations for the student. Any requests received after the TAC has reached capacity or within 5 days of the test date will be rejected.
If the TAC is unable to facilitate an exam due to capacity or a submission not being accepted, the faculty will need to make their own arrangements to facilitate the accommodated exams.
We expect consistent communication between instructors and students regarding where a student will be taking their exam.
