TAC Student FAQ

Accommodate Questions

ERROR MESSAGE: I am trying to book a seat for my exam, why does it say, “no open booking slots found?”

There could be a number of reasons:

  1. Students are not able to reserve a seat themselves 48 hours in advance of an exam’s start time. If this is the case, please reach out to TAC staff directly with your course information to have them schedule you, but a seat cannot be guaranteed if the center is busy.
  2. The TAC may be at capacity during the time of your exam, especially if it is for a larger course. Please reach out to TAC staff directly.
  3. Please make sure not to adjust the time range and follow all instructions on the booking page.

Do I have to schedule my exam at the same time it takes place in class?

If your professor has set up a time range for a longer period of time, you do not.  To check the full time range set by your instructor, do not adjust the time range when you are booking your seat, as this will bring up the options for an entire day.

Why do I not have the option to “Schedule an Exam” with the TAC?

If you have not met with your SSD coordinator and/or submitted the initial application, you would need to do that first.

If you have accommodations, please be sure to Submit Your Semester Request for your classes this semester. Your coordinator will approve it as quickly as possible, then you will be able to schedule.

Why have I not heard anything after submitting my reservation?

The TAC staff need to process a large amount of student reservations at all times, so we appreciate your patience. You will receive a confirmation email once it has been approved, but this may be closer to your exam date.

If you go onto Accommodate and your request is now under “Received,” it has been approved.

If you have submitted a reservation on Accommodate in advance of your exam, you will receive a seat.

If my professor put in a booking on Accommodate, are they reserving a seat for me?

No, you would still need to reserve your seat and make the choice that you would like to take the exam with the TAC. Your professor is just providing details of the exam, and we then invite students to schedule with us, if you choose to do so. You are welcome to take the exam with your professor as well, but it is up to you.

General Questions

How do I take an exam at the TAC?

If you have testing accommodations, and you have had a discussion about the exam space with your instructor, you can reserve a seat on Accommodate.

At which TAC (MLB or CCCB) will I be taking my exam?

The CCCB location is our primary testing center this semester, so you will likely be taking your exam there unless there are differing circumstances. You can check this in your most recent confirmation email from the TAC.

What can I bring to the TAC?

Any items that are not needed for an exam, such as a backpack or technology, can be brought to the center but must be put into one of our lockers before the exam. If your medical device is part of your phone, you can bring that in.

Drinks, primarily water, can be brought into the testing center but they must have a closed lid.

Food is not allowed to be eaten within the testing space. It can be brought to be eaten in the lobby during an exam, but only if a student has a Food and Drink accommodation.

We do have pencils to provide, along with a limited supply of calculators. And mints :)
