Services for Students with Disabilities

The Wesley Smith Memorial Award is an annual award available to all undergraduate and graduate students who are deaf or hard of hearing.  Each year, one recipient will receive a $500 cash award in recognition of curricular and co-curricular success at the University of Michigan. 

All application materials must be submitted to Jill Rice by September 14, 2018 (Noon).  The student selected to receive the award will be notified in October and receive the award check at the annual Neubacher Award Ceremony.

Requirements

  • Students applying must be enrolled for the Fall 2018 term as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Students must be deaf or hard of hearing and registered with the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) office
  • Students must submit a copy of their academic transcript
  • Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need

Application Process

Please submit your name, address, phone number and student ID number.  Please include your expected date of graduation.  In a paragraph or two, please discuss your academic and extracurricular experience at U-M.  Attach a copy of your most current transcript.
