Students Registered with SSD - Academic Year 2012-13
It has been a record year for the number of students (2,081) who have registered with the SSD office and all signs indicate that the number will continue to grow. Nearly half (949) of registered students are those with Learning Disabilities. Students with Mental Health Conditions (500) and Chronic Health Conditions (265) make up our two other highest areas. The rest of the population includes students with Dual Disabilities (141), Temporary Disabilities (121), Visual Impairments (43), Deaf and Hard of Hearing (32), and Mobility Impairments (30).
Despite challenging economic times and limited resources, students who receive accommodations from SSD continue to perform as well as their peers within the University academic environment and beyond as shown below:
The mean GPA of SSD students is 3.0.
80% of students registered with SSD graduate within five years.
Post-graduation employment rates of SSD-registered students are on parity with the employment rates of other UM students.
